About Us

I grew up in Deniliquin with the typical boys’ attitude to cars, racing, motor bike & 4wds. Loved them all, and that’s what lead me to do an apprenticeship as a motor mechanic.

I spent 15 years in the motor trade working for a number of different dealerships and got plenty of experience on close to all popular makes and models. A move to Sydney in the 90’s gave me two great loves – My wife and 4wding. A neighbour took me out to drive a track called Freds Hill (about 1/2km of track that took us about 6hrs – didn’t have diff locks or winches back then, they were for rich folks and I wasn’t one of them) and I was hooked. We brought a Nissan Patrol, decked it out with Muddies, a suspension lift & a snorkel and away we went. In fact we still that own that same Nissan Patrol, it just has a couple more mods done to it now as well as a few extra dents and scratches.

In 2000 my wife & I set off on a 9mth tour around our beautiful Country before coming back to the Mornington Peninsula (with a baby on the way) to settle with my family. Once in Melbourne I quickly got hooked on the High Country and joined the Vic All Terrain 4wd Club who were actively involved in a lot of the local competitions. I spent the next few years as their Social Secretary and Vice President and started helping out marshalling at events such as the Simex and The Outback Challenge, but it wasn’t long before the competition bug really hit and I entered my first Pajero as a competitor.

I have now competed and or marshalled at numerous Pajeros, Simexs, Atecos, Vic Winchs, Outback challenges and Cliffhanger and even managed to place second in the team stage of this years Piranha and 3rd at the Pajero.

In 2005 I started On 4 to U, originally as a mobile 4wd accessory fitter. It is a family owned and run business, but a keen interest in bright lights, and an inability to want to work on motor vehicles any more than I have to, led me to investigate the Hid market. From there HID R US was born. I have trialled a number of different HID brands before finding the ones that I am willing to sell to you.
